Et Nytt Stykke Norge er en konsert bygget rundt nyskrevet norsk musikk av nålevende komponister. Forestillingen demonstrerer at det både lages og fremføres musikk av norske komponister, og med særlig vekt på de kvinnelige utøverne og komponistene.

Trioen har i løpet av de siste ti årene bestilt musikk i grenselandet mellom tradisjonell klassisk musikk, samtidsmusikk, elektronisk musikk, jazz og folkemusikk. Denne musikken er kul, rytmisk, stemningsskapende og ikke minst litt uvant for den gjennomsnittlige skoleelev i dag. Derfor er konserten bygget opp rundt begrepet aktiv lytting.

Musikerne gir publikum konkrete holdepunkter som de kan lytte etter i de forskjellige stykkene. Underveis i konserten blir lyttingen mer abstrakt, og publikum utfordres til å bruke fantasien når de opplever musikken. Aktiv lytting blir brukt for å gjøre ukjent musikk lettere tilgjengelig for publikum, da det musikalske uttrykket er annerledes enn det barn omgir seg med til daglig. Verktøyene de får kan gi publikum en dypere forståelse for hvordan de skal møte ny musikk og annen kunst i fremtiden. Musikerne ønsker å få en kontakt med elevene og legger opp til dialog rundt lyttingen og musikkuttrykkene underveis i konserten.

Konserten har enkle visuelle grep som er med på å aksentuere lyttingen, men fortsatt bevare musikken som et bærende element. Det gis tid i etterkant av forestillingen for spørsmål.

Konsertforestillingen ble produsert av DKS Oslo i samarbeid med Taffelpikene og SEANSE. Den har turnert for DKS Oslo i skoleårene 2019/20 - 2024/25 og i Nordre Follo i 2022/23. Dette er en dynamisk konsert hvor repertoar byttes ut etterhvert som trioen får ny musikk levert. 

Et Nytt Stykke Norge is a concert built around newly composed Norwegian music by contemporary composers. The performance highlights that music is both being created and performed by Norwegian composers today, with a special emphasis on female performers and composers.

Over the past decade, the trio has commissioned music that exists at the intersection of traditional classical music, contemporary music, electronic music, jazz, and folk. This music is cool, rhythmic, atmospheric—and often quite unfamiliar to the average school student today. For that reason, the concert is structured around the concept of active listening. The musicians provide the audience with specific cues and elements to listen for in each piece. As the concert progresses, the listening becomes more abstract, challenging the audience to use their imagination to engage with the music.

Active listening is used as a tool to make unfamiliar music more accessible, as the musical language often differs from what children are typically exposed to in their everyday lives. These tools offer the audience a deeper understanding of how to approach new music—and art in general—in the future.

The musicians aim to establish a connection with the students and encourage dialogue about listening and musical expression throughout the performance. The concert also includes simple visual elements designed to enhance the listening experience, while still preserving the music as the central focus. At the end of the performance, time is allocated for questions and conversation.

The concert was produced by DKS Oslo in collaboration with Taffelpikene and SEANSE. It toured for DKS Oslo during the school years 2019/20 to 2024/25, and in Nordre Follo in 2022/23. This is a dynamic concert, with the repertoire continuously evolving as the trio receives new music.
